THE new Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce committee lineup was announced at the recent combined Champions of Industry and AGM event.

Returning committee members Victoria Gracie, Melissa Green, Angela Hurley, Peter Jones-Trifelly, Dave Whitson and Heather Woods welcomed Glenn Byron, Stacey Cole and Simon Vigliante to the fold.

Heather Woods, Dave Whitson and Victoria Gracie have continued in the committee’s executive positions as President, Vice President and Secretary respectively, with newcomer Simon Vigliante taking on the Treasurer’s role.

President Heather Woods said that the event showed a “renewed sense of energy and positivity for the future”, with the committee already “kicking goals”.

“The role of Chamber is to be the voice of the Mackay region business community, as we have been since being established in 1887,” Ms Woods said.

“As well as a strong committee on board, we have just launched a new website that is a business resource hub for the region and offers even more value to our membership base and sponsors.

“Chamber are in an excellent financial and member position, and as more businesses experience the positive growth that is happening in our region, both of those figures will continue to grow.”

Champions of Industry panel members Mayor Greg Williamson and Mastermyne CEO Tony Caruso both made a call for businesses to join membership bodies to create one voice.

“A big part of our role as Chamber is to advocate for our members. The more members we have, the more informed we are on issues that are facing Mackay region businesses and the stronger our voice is when we advocate for them.”
