The Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce is the voice of local business and has the authority to present business issues directly to all levels of government. In addition, our strategic alliance with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) means that our local voice has a presence on both the state and national stage.
Importantly, the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce actively lobbies the local media to ensure that relevant business issues always receive wide spread public attention. Advocacy through key media channels is a primary goal for the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce.
Access to Knowledge
Our region is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing regions in Australia and generates significant revenue for government. The Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce encourages its members to be completely up to date with the economic prospects of the region and maintains a reciprocal affiliation with Regional Economic Development Corporation - Mackay Isaac Whitsunday (REDC). This affiliation means our members will have access to local intelligence collected for our region including:
- Regional Economic Profiles incorporating statistical data for the region and are published annually.
- The Regional Development Register, published six monthly, tracking all investment in the region and providing information on project proponents, level of investment and timeframes.
Owning or operating a business can be isolating. The Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce offers a range of networking events to ensure our members have the opportunity to meet, interact and engage with other like-minded business professionals in a welcoming environment. After work drinks; coffee and conversation events and speed networking luncheons are just a few of the networking opportunities available on our annual calendar.
Information and Education
Providing our members with up to date information is a key focus of the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce. Living in a regional community means that access to training opportunities is sometimes limited. Therefore the Chamber makes it a priority to tackle issues of current relevance (based on member feedback) and offer opportunities for members to continually expand their business networks and learn valuable business skills at the same time.
Keep abreast of current issues from your desk. The newsletter provides members with the ability to stay ahead of local business news and issues. For a nominal fee, members can advertise directly to interested recipients in our newsletter.
Member Directory and Member 2 Member Deals
As a member of the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce, your business is entitled to a link and a brief profile on our member directory page. The Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce website attracts an average of 800 unique visitors a month, therefore exposing your business to a potential new audience. In addition, members can promote and receive discounts by accessing exclusive Member 2 Member Deals.
The Chamber plays a key role in marketing the city to further investment, trade and tourism opportunities in collaboration with other regional peak bodies. These investment opportunities pave the way for future business development in the region and provide surety to current business operators. Members of the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee sit on various boards and committees and their presence ensures that the voice of local business is always heard.
The Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce has a burgeoning relationship with the progressive Mackay Young Professionals network. Together, we regularly host joint functions in order to create meaningful relationships between the young and old guard and to provide valuable networking opportunities.
The Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce is governed by a nine member executive committee elected at the Annual General Meeting, held every October. Executive positions are on a volunteer basis. Members interested in taking a more proactive role in the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce are encouraged to nominate for a position on the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee meets monthly and is led by a Chairperson and is supported by a Deputy Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. Associate/Not for Profit: $170.50 (incl. GST)
Business Level 1 (1 - 9 staff): $313.50 (incl. GST)
Business Level 2 (10 – 49 staff): $456.50 (incl. GST)
Business Level 3 (50+ staff): $649.00 (incl. GST)
